'[Un]lovable A Scratch Night Performance by Not so Nice! Theatre company is one hundred percent loveable. Each of the five scratch theatre pieces were deftly crafted: the writing was thoughtful and witty; set design simple yet apt; costumes spot on; lighting simple and the quality of acting perfectly matched the rigor of the black box.'

in this production, not so nice! is providing a platform to five emerging playwrights to explore what it means to be 'unlovable' and how this label can impact a person endeavouring to find what society deems as 'love'. as a director of three pieces in this production, the process of working with emerging creatives to explore this topic and the individual themes in each piece has been fantastic. we found that the wants or needs for connection/intimacy are not just confined to romantic relationships. These topics are relatable to all in terms of self acceptance and combating the negative thoughts we feel when we are isolated from our loved ones and the wider world. Audiences will be able to connect to the human stories that ground these pieces and vulnerably share what it means to be in or to find love.
in this scratch night I really wanted to delve into what it means to feel un-wanted, un-worthy and un-interested when it comes to the notion of love.
love is something that many of us crave, or long to give. But what happens when our wants and needs aren't heard?
in 5 vignettes we explore different versions of what it could mean to be 'unlovable' whilst posing the question - is anyone really unlovable to the core? What happens to those who just don't want to be loved? find out by joining us on the 11th of February, for our anti-valentine's day performance of (un)lovable.

(un)lovable is such an exciting project to be a part of because it shines a light on the difficulties that everybody faces, both with them selves and others, when trying to find a partner for life.
I am directing 'in me' by wren Brian and the theme I wanted to draw on was trust. what happens when trust is broken? when the person you thought you knew was a lie? can that trust ever be repaired? theses are questions I believe we can all relate to because everyone has felt that sting of betrayal.
and when that betrayal is unearthed... is love enough?
