NOT SO NICE! are seeking actors to audition for NOT SO NICE!’s upcoming 2025 Spring production entitled ‘Living With The Dead’ by Cosette Bolt at Augustine United Church, Edinburgh on the 25th & 26th April 2025.
We are casting for the following roles:

EVANS: 30+ Male presenting. Crematory manager, gruff, southern, maybe owns a Harley and goes on charity rides in his time off. Has a young child, kind, inquisitive.

PATCH: Mid- late 20's, Non Binary/ Gender Non Conforming. Parentified older sibling. Struggling to make their way in the world.

PAR: Patch’s partner. Par lives several states over for work since graduating. Loving and supportive.

MRS SPARROW: 50+ and female presenting. Faithful and fierce. A shoot first ask forgiveness later kind of woman.

SANDY: Late teens/ early 20's. A wandering soul, fearful and searching.

KATRINA: Late teens/ early 20's. Black and female presenting. Appears mature but unsure of her future.
To apply you must:
- Live in Edinburgh or be willing to travel to Edinburgh for rehearsals (this event is unfunded so travel costs will not be reimbursed)
- Have good availability during February/ March and April for rehearsals. (We can work around any existing commitments)
- Be available all day on the 25th & 26th April for the tech, dress and show at the venue.

Production timeline:
05/01/25 - Deadline for actor submissions.
W/C 06/01/25: Recall Auditions Commence
13/01/25: Successful actors confirmed.
February-April: Rehearsals for the show.
25th & 26th April 2025: Performances of 'Living With The Dead' by Cosette Bolt.
Due to this being an unfunded event, Not So Nice! are providing an equal profit share of ticket sales. This will include playwright, actors, directors.
My mother was the last tree.
Big. Tall. She brushed against the sky.
She was filled with the most brilliant colour and light.
People came from all around to see her.
To hear her speak for the past.
…
And everyone would listen and listen, and cry and cry.
They’d ask every question they could think to ask.
And cry for what she told them.
For how things used to be.
…
Until eventually she couldn’t speak anymore.
The colour and light faded.
And her leaves turned to dust.
So with her very last breath,
She lifted me here.
Away from what was left.
Sent to remember the rest.
